Dr. Sneha Gore Mehendale
Assistant Professor
Dr Sneha is a media professional-turned-media educator who teaches journalism students at SIMC. Her research interests are digital journalism, podcasting, media ethics and climate communication. She is also a news verification trainer with the Google News Initiative and routinely trains students in fact-checking. On the non-work front, she is an avid reader, a long-distance running enthusiast and a mother.
She has been selected as the visiting faculty fellow at the Centre for Advanced Research in Global Communication, University of Pennsylvania, for the fall 2024 term. She will spend time at UPenn in November 2024, developing research projects. She also presented her work at the 2024 conference of the International Communication Association (ICA), in Australia. She received the Michael Haley travel grant awarded for the ICA.
She has been awarded a SIU minor project grant worth INR 1.20 lakh to work on the platformization in Indian podcasting. She also attended the Google News Initiative's annual meet-up in Singapore, in December 2023, supported by their travel grant, and presented her experiences as an information verification trainer.
