SIMC’s Sports Media meet – a media meet with a difference

Pune, India, January 29, 2010: SIMC Pune, known to leaving its footprints when it comes to organizing events and this time it seems that it’s all set to break its own records with the first chapter of its National Sports Media Meet (NSMM), an event that’s a league apart from the run of the mill media seminars.

 NSMM has been conceptualized to bring together the moguls of media both print and broadcast on the same panel as the sports anchor, eminent sports personalities and the CEOs of sporting companies, in order to give its media trainees and students form other institutes an opportunity to interact with the best of the sports media and business sector of India.
 
This meet is SIMC's first seminar on sports and media is a one-day event that will begin at 10 am and wrap up around 6pm on January 29, 2010. The event, will be kick start with an inaugural session where we will have Mir Ranjan Negi (former goalkeeper of the India national field hockey team based on whose stint as a coach for the Indian Women Hockey team hit movie Chak de! India, was made) as the chief guest. Also gracing the inaugural session will be Jaideep Sahni (scriptwriter of Chak de! India) and Sagarika Ghatge (Preeti Sabarwal of Chak de! India).
 
The event that has been neatly divided into three sessions will begin with its first session on print media followed by broadcast industry and the business of sports respectively. Keeping in sync with SIMC’s penchant for inviting the best of the industry have been handpicked as speakers for each session. Those gracing the dais are:
 
Session on Print Media and Sports:
 
·         Ayaz Memon, Ex-DNA Sports Editor
·         Bobilli Vijay Kumar, National Sports Editor of Times of India
·         Lokendra Pratap Sahi, National Sports Editor, The Telegraph,
 
For the second session Broadcast media and sports, we will have:
 
  • Aarti Dabas, Media Rights & Broadcast manager, ICC, Dubai.
  • Moutik Toulia, Executive Vice President – Programming, NEO Sports
  • Soumitra Bose, Head of Content, Digital Media, ESPN-STAR Sports, India
  • Irfan Pathan, Indian Cricketer (Video Appearance)
The event would sum up with the final session on the Business of Sports, we have:
  • Anil Srivatsa CEO of Kings XI Punjab, IPL Franchise
  • Harish Krishnamachar, Vice President, South East Asia World Sports Group
  • Jeet Banerjee, CEO of Gameplan, a leading sports management company
 Celebrity quotient will be added with the presence of:
 
  • Sagarika Ghatke
  • Ranjan Negi
  • Jaideep Sahni
  • Irfan Pathan
Concept note: This one-day event has been conceptualized by the media trainees of SIMC under the aegis of our institute that supported the concept in all possible way. NSMM 2010 seems all set to create a benchmark for event related to sports, an area that most institute choose to ignore. But with growing demand for sports has created a good business sector to tread on. And this meet aims at creating a forum that would help the enthusiasts interact with those who matter in this sector.
