Director's Message Faculty Profiles Staff Advisors Visiting Faculty Guest Faculty Guest Faculty 2007        Prof Ujjwal Kumar Chowdhury is Dean, Faculty of Media, Communication and Design and also Director, SIMC and HOD, Communication Management. He is an MA, MPhil in International Relations, and also has a PG Diploma in Journalism and Communication.       He has been a working journalist for more than eights years with mainstream media houses like Blitz, the Times of India group, Observer group, Zee Telefilms, and the Business India group, followed by six years in media education, first as the founder Director of Symbiosis Institute of Mass Communication and then as the Founder Director of COMMITS, Bangalore, and NIMC (NSHM Group), Kolkata.          He has been associated with language, education and culture groups and has been a Media Consultant to the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, promoting Indian handicrafts and textiles. He has also worked for the UN World Health Organisation, Ambassador, Yohei Sasakawa, and The Nippon Foundation, Japan, in the area of health and anti-stigma communication (especially leprosy).          A globally travelled person, who speaks several Indian languages, he has contributed towards professional education in media and management on the basis of a Convergence Model, rather than disintegrated piece-meal communication and business education.             Anupam Siddhartha, Deputy Director; HOD, Entertainment Media, holds a Masters Degree in Linguistics and has studied films at the NFAI. He has eight years of experience in the print medium,three years in the electronic media and twelve years in education, including seven years with SIMC.      He is in-charge of academic activities at SIMC and is handling the modules related to Audio Visual Production.             Chandra Sekar.D, Assistant Professor,       Mr. Chandra Sekar.D has a MA in Mass Communication from Bharathiar University and has more than 11 years of professional experience in the field of advertising in India and abroad. He has handled brands such as Mitsubishi, Chevrolet, Hyundai and Subaru in the Middle East. He currently is pursuing his PhD in the field of ICT with 5 years of academic experience in teaching BSc. Visual Communication & MSc. Electronic Media students at PSG & Hindustan colleges, Coimbatore. At SIMC he teaches the MBA communication management students who wish to specialize in advertising.                Dr M Srihari, Faculty, Communication Research, has completed Ph.D in Communication from Bharthiyar University, Coimbatore. He has specialised in Information Communication Technologies (ICT) in rural development and has been an academic guide to M Phil and post-graduate students in Coimbatore for more than a year.     Ananya Mehta, Faculty, Public Relations and Event Management, is an expert communicator with four years of experience in the media field. He postgraduated in 2003 from Faculty of Journalism, MS University of Baroda, Vadodara. He has a good exposure of handling different events and public relations activities.      Prior to joining SIMC, he was appointed by Depuy India Pvt Ltd, a Johnson & Johnson company, to handle PR activities for their Centre for Knee Surgery, Vadodara. He has also served as Lecturer with Department of Journalism, HNG University, Patan.      Besides, handling PR & Events, he loves theatre and has been a casual announcer with AIR, Vadodara station.                       Shubha Singh, Jr. Lecturer, Ms. Shubha Singh has done her M.A in Linguistics from University of Lucknow and also holds a Diploma in Journalism from Bharti Vidya Bhavan. She began her professional career as a Copy editor & went on to dabble in Radio in the capacity of a Compere/ RJ, production assistant at ALL INDIA RADIO-Lucknow. She also has the experience of working with Lucknow’s first community radio channel – 90.4 CMS Fm and D.D Lucknow. Her association with ALL INDIA RADIO lasted for 4.5 years before she decided to move to Pune to join Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication as a Jr. Lecturer for Broadcast Media. She is sure that students will enjoy learning about radio from her & she will enjoy learning many things from the students!     Aftab Sandhu, Faculty, Journalism, Broadcast professional with 8 year of cross functional experiences in Program production, direction, anchoring across TV & Radio industry produced programs on different subjects like, education, talent hunt, infotainment asd new with Channels like ZEE TV, B4U, DD and Shara Produced special feature on poems of EX. PM of India Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpai., Got international Award for Stage anchoring by anchoring highest no. of stage shows.
