SIMC expects to initiate an Under-Graduate programme in Media Studies (Bachelors of Media Studies) from the next academic year, commencing 2008, at its existing Viman Nagar campus.
The full-time programme will be spread over a period of three years, and spaced out over six semesters, incorporating lectures, tutorials, assignments and practical sessions. The subjects will include :
Semester I
Development of Communication: Types, Theories, Models, Approaches Laws, Ethics and Challenges in Mass Communication An Introduction to Journalism Basic Computer Application

Semester V
Media Management Entrepreneurship in Media Design & Page Make Up Film & Television: Theory & Practice Study of Media Scene in India: Radio, Television, New Media

Semester VI

Intake and Admission Process
A total of 120 students shall be admitted to the first course of Bachelor in Media Studies (BMS) to commence in 2008.
Applicants to the course will be short-listed for interviews on the basis of the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) to be conducted in March 2008.

  • Classes will be of 120 minutes duration each.

  • There will be 3 classes everyday, followed by practical sessions.

  • Every semester will be of 16 weeks duration, with examinations conducted in the last week.

  • After the end of the semester, trainees will execute field projects for 8 weeks, which will include two internships the first one at the end of the fourth semester, and the second at the end of the sixth semester.

  • The BMS degree will comprise a total of 100 credits. Each credit will be equivalent to 50 marks.
